LOAN inaugurates new executives in Jigawa

The Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN) on Wednesday inaugurated its newly-elected executives to lead the association for the next two years.

The newly-inaugurated executives were: Dr Zakiyyu Muhammad as Chairman, Barr. Umar Shehu as Vice Chairman and Barr. Aliyu Hassan as Secretary General.

Others were: Barr. Kabiru Warwade as Assistant Secretary General, Barr. Fatima Aliyu, Treasurer, Barr. Aisha Umar, Social Secretary, Barr. Basiru Leko, Welfare Secretary, Barr.Sunusi Sani, Publicity Secretary I and Barr. Musa Fagama, Publicity Secretary II.

While inaugurating the new executive, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Bello Abdukadir-Fanini, urged them to be committed in ensuring the welfare of law officers in the state.

“LOAN is supposed to carter for the welfare and professional development of law officers in Nigeria. Here we are oday as a lawyers in the ministry and other MDAs complaining and struggling about welfare.

“We cannot compare our welfare and that of our colleagues in the medical profession or any other profession. So this is the challenge, this is the task I will want to see this leadership of yours handle with deligency and professionalism.
“In fact we need this from you with high level of urgency. We want to see our welfare drastically improved under your leadership,”Abdukadir-Fanini said.

Responding, Muhammad said the new leadership would ensure the overall welfare of all law officers in the state.

He assured that the association would secure the allocation of 20 housing units for its members in proposed state government’s Mass Housing Project.

“We will also establish cooperative society for our members, develop and implement strategies to leverage the cooperative society for the financial empowerment and support our members.

“Our leadership will also introduce and enhance professional development programs to keep our members abreast of legal requirements, skills training and emerging trends in the legal profession,” he assured.

According to him, the new leadership will also focus on advocacy for legal professionalism, ethics and integrity campaign, mentorship and networking, as well as technology integration among its members.

“I’m excited about the collaborative efforts that lie ahead as we work together to achieve these goals. Your input, collaboration and support are crucial in making a lasting and positive impact on the lives and careers of our members,” the new chairman said.

Barr. Aliyu Abdullahi, the Deputy Director Litigation, Jigawa State Ministry of Justice, administered the oath of office to the new executives.
