Jigawa Police Apprehend Suspects Linked to Goats Theft, Animal Rustling, More

The Jigawa State Police Command, says there have been reported cases of suspected animal rustling, recovery of stealing goats, firearms, charms, and other related incidents in the state.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam Jigawa Command Public Relations Officer made this known in a statement.

He said on 1st January. 2024 at about 1320hrs, a team of Policemen attached to Guri Police Station, while on routine patrol, arrested and brought to the station one Abba Mohammed ‘m’ age 30yrs and Adamu Lamido Bille ‘m’ age 29yrs all of Garbagal village Fulani settlement in possession of one goat strongly suspected to be stolen.

He further said on interrogation, the suspects confessed to have stolen the said goat at Guri Town.

He stated that on 3rd January, 2024 at about 1400hrs, one Aminu Mustafa ‘m’ age 38yrs of Unguwar Dodo quarters Maigatari LGA who is a Point of Sale (POS) vendor reported at Maigatari Police Station that, on the same date at about 1245hrs, an unknown person came to his POS shop to withdraw money which after giving him the POS Machine he fraudulently use it and transfer the sum of Nine Hundred thousand naira (N900,000.00k) into his account.

He stated that on receipt of the information, Police on patrol were alerted, fortunately, one Abdulmuminu Tasi’u ‘m’ age 17yrs of Adakawa quarters, Dala LGA Kano State was arrested and brought to the Station for investigation.

DSP Shiisu further stated that on interrogation, the suspect admitted to the commission of the offence.

“In another development, on 3rd January 03/01/2024 at about 1700hrs, one Sani Inusa ‘m’ age 40yrs of Hardo Sale village Maigatari LGA reported at Maigatari Police station that on the same date at about 1300hrs, an unknown person trespassed into his house and stole his goat valued at Forty thousand naira (₦40,000:00k).

He explained that on receipt of the report, a team of policemen attached to Maigatari Division swung into action, where one Zahraddin Musa ‘m’ age 20yrs of Gangare Quarters, Maigatari LGA was arrested after killing the goat by suffocating it, adding that the on interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.

” He further mentioned one Habu Isiya ‘m’ aged 22 of Gangare Quarters, a butcher as his receiver, who was later arrested.

He added that on 3rd Jan. 2024 at about 2000hrs, a team of Policemen attached to Guri Divisional Police Headquarters, based on credible intelligence, arrested the following suspects;-Sani Alh Ali ‘m’ 25yrs, Manu Iro ‘m’ 25yrs, Ibrahim Ummaru ‘m’ 20yrs all of Dagana Fulani Settlement Guri LGA, Muhd Muhd a.k.a. Uban Shegu ‘m’ 30yrs of Guri town and Gambo Alhassan ‘m’ 25yrs of Marma village K/kasamma LGA.

“The suspects were strongly suspected of forming a syndicate terrorizing some parts of Guri LGA by attacking, robbing and extorting money from people along the roads.

“During investigation, the suspects confessed to having attacked and robbed many people at Guri LGA and neighbouring LGAs.

On 04/01/2024 at 1600hrs, one Shaibu Hannau ‘m’ age 50yrs of Maizuwo Fulani settlement reported at S/tankarkar Police Station that on 03/01/2023 at about 0200hrs, two hoodlums who are identified as one Hamza Janu ‘m’ age 30yrs and one Bala Bangis ‘m’ age 25yrs, all of Maizuwo Fulani Settlement criminally conspired and trespassed into his compound with criminal intent.

However, he noted theit their presence was noticed and alarm was raised, subsequently the suspects took to their heels and left behind one Kasea Motorcycle with no Reg Number.

“Upon receipt of the report, Patrol team attached to S/tankarkar Division swung into action and successfully arrested the said Hamza Janu.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence while effort is intensified to arrest the other suspect who is at large.

Furthermore, he pointed out that on 5th January, 2024 at about 1730hrs, a Patrol team attached to Babura Police Station, while on routine patrol at Babura Market, Babura LGA arrested one Muhammad Isah ‘m’ age 40yrs and one Bawa Sha’Aibu ‘m’ age 40yrs all of Kurta village Babura LGA in possession of three Goats strongly suspected to be stolen.

He revealed that on interrogation, the suspects confessed to have conspired and stole the three goats at Bela Bush popularly known as Dajin Batali of Babura LGA.

“On 7th January, 2024 at about 1500hrs, one Ibrahim Ubale ‘m’ age 30yrs of Kunkurawa village Kano state reported at Taura Police Station that, on 31st Dec. 2023 he entrusted one Abdulaziz Muhammad ‘m’ age 25yrs of Dakau village Garki LGA with livestock for rearing and subsequently on 4th January, 2024 the said Abdul’Aziz left with the cows and sheeps to unknown destination.

” However, as the complainant went to Gujungu market, he discovered one of his cow in possession of one Butti Haruna ‘m’ age 55yrs of Yanyanga Fulani Settlement, Taura LGA.

“On receipt of the report, Detectives attached to Taura Division swiftly swung into action and arrested the suspect with the said cow.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed that it was one Abdulaziz who gave him the cow to sell, when search was conducted in his settlement at Yanyanga Fulani settlement Nineteen (19) more cows and fourteen (14) sheep were recovered. Effort is intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect.
