The Anti Vandalism Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has apprehended a tanker carrying over 20,000 liters of fuel, suspected of diverting to Katsina State for sale at inflated prices.
The NSCDC Commandant in Kano, Mohammed Lawal Falala, made this known at a press briefing on Thursday.

According to Falala, the fuel allocation was originally intended for sale at a filling station in Kano, explaining that the tanker driver deviated from the assigned route and headed towards Katsina, where black market sales were taking place.
He maintained that the driver was arrested along Ibrahim Taiwo Road, around 1am stressing that investigations are ongoing to identify other suspects involved in the operation.

In addition to the tanker case, he pointed out that the NSCDC also uncovered syndicates that had modified their vehicles’ tanks to carry excess fuel for smuggling purposes.
He noted, these smugglers were selling the fuel at exorbitant prices on the black market.
Falala cautioned the public against participating in fuel smuggling or diverting products to unauthorized locations.

The Kano NSCDC Boss assured that investigation is still in progress, noting that the suspects would be charged to court once the investigation
is completed.
