The National/State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal Sitting in Kano, on Wednesday commenced pretrial session in a petition filed by Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso of APC, challenging the declaration of Datti Yusuf Umar of NNPP as winner of Kura/Madobi/Garun malan House Representatives election conducted on the 25th February, 2023.

Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso is praying the Tribunal to declare that Datti Yusuf Umar (3rd Respondents) was not qualified to contest the election alleging that he lied on oath while presenting qualification.
He further alleged that the respondent didn’t resigned his position as civil servant the time he contested the election, arguing that has contravened the provision of Electoral Act.
He is also praying the Tribunal to declare him winner of the election and return him.
Kwankwaso, similarly prayed the Tribunal to declare him winner of the Kura Madobi/Garun Malan
However, the pretrial session commenced with the parties adopted respectful answers to the pretrial conference sheet contained in form TF007.
Similarly, number of witness to be called and the declaration of examination was settled .
The led Counsel to the petitioner, Barrister MN Duru told the Tribunal that he will present 23 witnesses within seven days to prove the allegations against the respondents
On his part, Counsel to INEC, Barrister Abbas Haladu told the Tribunal that he will call 3 witnesses in three days.

While Counsel to the NNPP Eyitayo Fatogun SAN hinted that he would take only one witness in his defense.
Subsequently, the Tribunal adjourned to 17th June 2023 at the instance of the NNPP counsel to enable him file notice of preliminary objection.
