Kano State Magistrate Court presided over by Chief Magistrate Muhammmad Jibril has ordered the remand of one Sadiq Bala Lamido who is standing trial on allegations of inciting public disturbances and criminal defamation of character against the personality of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Executive Governor of Kano State and Murtala Sule Garo, Kano State Commissioner for Local Government.
The Prosecution Counsel, Barrister Lamido Abba Soron Dinki applied before the court that the FIR be read over and explained to the defendant, pursuant to sectuon 129 (8) of Adminstration of Criminal Justice Law of Kano State 2019.
Consquently, the Chief Magistrate ordered as prayed
According to the First Information Report (FIR) Sadiq Bala Lamido has defamed the personality of Kano State Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Murtala Garo severally on his Facebook page.
Court sentences man to death by hanging for murder in Kano
The First Information Report further alleged that the defendant commited the offences between 7th August, 2019 to October 2021.
Acccording to the Report, the offences contravene sections 392, 393 and 114 of Penal code
The defendant, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Thereafter, the Defense Counsel Barrister Anas Idris Baba prayed the court to exercise its descration and admit his his client to bail, he relied on section 36 (5) of constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended and sections 168 and 175 of ACJL 2019.
Court remands man for allegedly raping 17-year-old daughter
The Prosecution Counsel Soron Dinki, objected the bail prayer by the defense and urged the court to adjourn its sitting to allow him respond to the submission of defense counsel.
Chief Magistrate Muhammmad Jibril adjourned the case until October 15 to hear the response from the prosection and ruling on the bail application.
