Kano state Government in Collaboration with Makka Specialist eye Hospital commenced free eye screening exercise at the 12 recently established Primary eye health centres in the selected twelve local governments areas in the state.
Shading more light on the exercise, the Executive Secretary Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board Dr. Tijjani Hussain explained that, the program is part of the memorandum signed between Makka Specialist eye Hospital and Kano State Government aimed at conducting bi-annual free eye screening at the twelve selected Primary Health care centres for primary eye care.

Dr. Hussain further stated that, the program which was commenced at Tsanyawa Local Government is sheduled to last for 4 where over 6,000 people drawn from the 12 selected local government are expected to benefit from the free eye screening exercise.
In his remark, the Primary Eye Care coordinator Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board Malam Kamilu Saleh explained that, the exercise involved screening of people and providing free medical eye treatment to the patients.
He stated that, more than 6,000 people drawn from the 12 Primary Health Care are expected to benefit from the screening exercise, while 180 will benefit from cataract surgery, stressing that 110 people will undergo free cataract surgery from Tsanyawa Local Government area.

In his respond, the District heaad of Tsanyawa Alhaji Dayyabu Aliyu Fama commended the effort of the present administration for its effort in conducting the free eye screening exercise and called on the people in the state to complement Kano State Government in its effort to better the lots of the people in the state expecially on the health sector.
