Sallah Festivities: FRSC Deploys 1,820 Personnel to Control Traffic In Kano


The Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) Kano State Command said it has deployed 1,820 Personnels comprising 120 Officers, 1,250 Masharls and 450
Special Marshals for effective enforcement of traffic laws, traffic control at strategic locations, in a bid to ensure crash- free and smooth traffic flow during the forth coming EId el Fitr Sallah celebrations.

In statement by Kano State Sector Commander, CC Zubairu Mato said 16 Patrol vehicles, 3 Ambulances, and 1 heavy duty tow truck were also deployed for the week long Operation which will commence on Tuesday, 11th May, 2021 and last on 17th May, 2021.

” The objective of the Operation is to enhance FRSC visibility on the road through deployment of personal and logistics with a view to reducing Road Traffic Crashes, fatalities and injuries on our Roads and to ensure strict compliance to Covid 19 Health protection Report 2021, as well as to ensure speedy removal of obstruction on our Roads.

” It is also aimed at enlightening members of the public on the need to use the road safely during the festive period.

” The Command has already commenced aggressive public sensitization campaigns and Stakeholders’ engagements to ensure effective compliance to the Presidential Taskforce directives on Covid-19 protocol for inter-state travels; use of facemask by Commuters and sanitation of Motor Parks against spread of Covid-19 virus, social distancing in commuter vehicles, ensure adequate ventilation in Commuter vehicles while on transit, use of hand sanitizers by driver’s and passengers, among others.” The Commander stated

Mato emphasized that the operation will be focusing on traffic violations such as
Speed violation, Overloading including enforcement of social distancing in commuter vehicles in order to prevent spread of Covid-19 through inter State travels, Wrongful overtaking, lane indiscipline, Road Obstruction, Dangerous driving, Use of phone while driving, Use of Seat Belt/ Child restraint use violation, Route violations, Passenger manifest violations, Mechanically deficiencies to vehicles violations, Un latched and twist locks containers violation, illegal use of SPY number plates and Covid 19 HPR 2021.

The Sector Commander, advised Motorists and other Road users to obey Traffic rules and Regulations and drive with care within the period and beyond.

The Sector Commander further assured the General Public of the FRSC Kano State Command’s commitment to ensuring crash-free Sallah celebrations in the State and warn that traffic violations would not be tolerated.
