Jigawa CP Issues Stern Warning to Criminals, As 26 Phone Snatchers Others Arrested

Police Operatives in Jigawa have apprehended 26 suspected phone snatchers, motorcycle thieves, burglars Drug Abusers and recovered two motorcycles, six computer laptops among others.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam Command’s Spokesperson made this known in a statement.

He explained that on 18th December, 2023 at about 1115hrs, one Tasi’u Ibrahim ‘m’ 25yrs of Dugujabe village Babura LGA reported at Babura Police station that, on 15th December, 2023 at about 1745hrs, an unknown person threatened him with a weapon, snatched his handset and the sum of ten thousand naira only (₦10,000.00k) at Babura market and runaway.

He further explained thatb on receipt of the report, the patrol team at the market was detailed, where one Yusuf Badamasi ‘m’ 19yrs of Kofar Yamma quarters Babura LGA was arrested and the exhibits were recovered in his possession.

He explained on 19th Dec. 2023 at about 0400hrs, Policemen attached to Hadejia ‘A’ Division, while on patrol arrested one Mohammad Aliyu ‘m’ age 19yrs of Baga LGA, Borno State in possession of six Computer Laptops strongly suspected to be stolen.

“The suspect was taken to the Divisional Crime Branch (DCB) for investigation.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to having broken up a shop with one of his accomplices at Kofar Arewa Gagulmari Quarters, Hadejia LGA, and made away with the said items.”

According Shiisu, further revealed that the recovered items belonged to one Mohammadu Adamu ‘m’ of Gagulmari quarters, Hadejia LGA, whose shop was broken but did not report the incident to the Police.

“Later he was invited to the station where he identified the recovered items as his own and finally handed over his laptops on bond.”

He added that on 19th Dec. 2023 at about 1245hrs, one Yakubu Usman ‘m’ of Gandun Sarki quarters Hadeja LGA reported at Hadejia ‘A’ Divisional headquarters that, he parked his Lifan motorcycle with registration number NSK 349 HQ valued at seven hundred thousand naira only (₦700,000.00k) in front of his house, surprisingly when he came out he discovered that the said motorcycle was missing.

He noted that on receipt of the report, Policemen attached to Hadejia ‘A’ Division swiftly swung into action where one Abdullahi Muhammad ‘m’ age 27yrs of Walawa quarters Hadejia LGA was intercepted with the said motorcycle, adding that when a search was conducted, a locally made master key was found in his possession.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.”

“On 19/12/23 at about 0630hrs, information at our disposal revealed that, on the same date at about 0200hrs, an unknown person trespassed into Kazaure Local Government Secretariat and carted away with two air conditions fixed at Dan Doka Conference Hall.”

“On receipt of the report, the Detectives attached to Kazaure Division were detailed. Fortunately, one Najib Binya ‘m’ age 28yrs of Kanti quarters was arrested in connection with the crime.”

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to having trespassed into the Local Government Secretariat at night and carted away the said air conditions. The suspect further disclosed that he disposed of the stolen air conditions to one Abba ‘C’ now at large. When a search was conducted in his room, the vandalized air condition was recovered.

He stated that between 17th Dec. 2023 to 21st Dec. 2023, gallant men from Kiyawa, Bamaina, and Maigatari Divisional Police Headquarters, were raided by criminal hideouts and black spots in their Area of Responsibility (AORs), after intelligent information.

“During the raids, twenty-two (22) suspects were arrested and the following exhibits were recovered from them; Two hundred and fifty-four (254) Exol tablets, One hundred and twenty-three (123) tabs of Diaxapham, Thirty (30) pieces of D-5 Tablets, Twenty-six (26) wraps of Dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, Twenty-six (26) rubber solution, Six (6) gambling cards, Three (3) bottles of suck and die and Two (2) sachets of tramadol tablets , one scissor, also one Boxer Motorcycle suspected to be stolen was recovered from them.

The Spokesperson maintained that upon completion of the investigation, all the suspects arrested will be charged to court for prosecution.

CP AT Abdullahi, sent a powerful alert to all criminals in the state that, they should either repent or leave the entire state, as the Command had since embarked on simultaneous raiding across all the identified black spots and criminal hideouts in the state to build confidence in the heart of good of the state so that they will go out to their lawful businesses and sleep with their two eyes close.
