Abduljabbar Case: Kano Rejects Allegations of Hiring Mercenaries Lawyers

The Attorney General of Kano State, Barrister M. A Lawan, has denied allegations of the State hiring Mercenaries Lawyers in a case of alleged blasphemy against Sheikh Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara, while neglecting State Attorneys.

A Radio Station in the State, had aired in one of its programs that Kano has left its hundreds of Lawyers ideal while spending Millions of Naira to engage Mercenaries Lawyers to prosecute  Sheikh Abduljabar case.

However, the State Attorney General, Barrister M. A Lawan, said the insinuation was injurious and a calculated attempt to not only ridiculed the Government, but to create unnecessary tension in Kano.

“Although, as Attorney General of Kano State, I have the constitutional mandate to allowed any Lawyer to interfere in the case or any other case, so the Person behind the story is not even legal sound to understand the workings of the Law”.

He said, any Lawyer seen in Kano covering or joining in the Sheikh Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara case is doing that on a voluntary basis offering their services.

Barrister M. A Lawan said the norton behind the allegations was to publicize the Sheikh Abduljabar case and reduce it’s enormity which will be rejected accordingly.

He said, “you can see that there was every attempt to create unnecessary disharmony amongst our Lawyers and the government and also politicized the matter, but we are examining the issue and we are considering legal actions on it”.

The Attorney General said right now, Kano is having over 83 Sharia Courts and over 20  High Courts and they are all covered by state Counsels, therefore we will take legal action on the matter.
