The Katsina Command of Nigeria Police says it has arrested two suspected kidnapers who specialized in calling unsuspecting members of the public demanding payment of ransom or risked being kidnapped or killed.
This was disclosed by SP Gambo Isah, Katsina Command’s Spokesperson in a statement issued on Monday.
He said on the Feb 9 at about 1000hrs, based on tip off, the command succeeded in arresting the duo of one (1) Usman Abubakar alias “Dangaske”, ‘M’, aged 22 years of Kanbiri village, Safana LGA and (2) Yusufa Ibrahim, ‘M’, aged 30yrs, notorious kidnappers.

” Nemesis caught up with the suspects when they conspired and called one Abdulbasiru Salisu, ‘m’, of Shema village, Dutsinma LGA, on phone threatening him to deposit the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000:00) into a GT Bank Account number provided by the suspects or risked been kidnapped.”
He maintained that in the course of investigation, suspects were traced and arrested.
He further maintained that they confessed to the commission of the offence and other similar offences, noting that investigation is ongoing.
Similarly the Spokesman stated that based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in arresting one (1) Kamala Abdullahi alias “Dan Small”, ‘m’, 18 years old of Yammawa Quarters, Katsina (2) Usman Hamisu, alias “Dan Ussy”, ‘m’, 20 years old of Tudun Yan Lihidda Quarters, Katsina (3) Muhammadu Abubakar alias “Sarauta”, ‘m’, 21 years old of Rafukka Quarters, Katsina and (4) Aminu Salisu, ‘m’, 23 years old of Jibia LGA, Katsina, who alleged to have engaged in burglaries, theft, terrorizing Katsina and its environs.
” Nemesis caught up with the suspects when they were arrested in a criminal hideout preparing to go out for their nefarious acts.
He added that in the course of investigation, the following exhibits were recovered in their possession:
One Iron Dagger, One Machete, One Hammer, Two Knives.
” Suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and mentioned one Sabi’u Salisu alias “DUNA”, ‘m’, 35 years of Kofar Sauri Quarters, a notorious receiver of stolen property, as the receiver of the proceeds of their theft, upon the arrest of the suspect, a search was conducted in his residence where the following exhibits were recovered in his possession,
” Four Iron Doors, Some provision stuff, One Mattress, Twenty SheepTwenty-five bags of pepper One Generator and One bundle of Roofing sheets. Suspect was a notorious thief, receiver of stolen property, an ex-convict and habitual criminal. He confessed to the commission of the offence.” he further stated.
