The Judicial commission Of Inquiry on the Recovery of Misappropriated Public Properties and Assets from May, 2015 to May, 2023 established by Kano state Governor Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf has commenced sitting on Monday.
In his inaugural speech, the Chairman of the Commission, Justice Faruk Lawan Adamu said the Commission not established to with-hunt or any body, rather according to him, is on a fact-finding mission.

He also said at the end of the finding, the Commission will submit a set of recommendations to the State Government for possible implementation.
He assured that the Commission will be just and give fair hearing to all parties involved, be it individuals, companies, agencies or entities.
“In addition, I will like to call on person that has useful information or input that will assist the Commission in its assignment to send it in writing for verification, after which he or she may be ask to appear before the Commission to testify in person. Note again the Commission is here to serve and protect the interest of the public,”
Justice Lawal maintained that during his acceptance speech earlier, he assured the government and people of Kano that the Commission will discharge its assignment diligently and fair.
He revealed that some of the terms of reference given to the Commission including; review the sale, disposal or allocation of all government owned properties, institutional buildings, including school buildings, government hospital, praying grounds, historical and cultural sites and monuments, graveyard and other open land or spaces within Kano urban Area or other urban lands in other part of the country belonging to Kano State from 29th May, 2015 to May 2023.
“To provide comprehensive inventory of all such affected properties, to determine the cost or value at which such sales, disposal or allocation were made and also provide the estimated current market value of such properties.
To determine the individual, companies, agencies or entities to which such sale, disposal or allocation, were made weather such properties to with which such sale, disposal or allocation made the appropriate recommendations,
“To determine the role of government, ministries or particular government officials In the process of such sales, disposal or allocations and determine their responsibility or culpability in any abuses or breaches of relevant laws and regulations.
“To make recommendations on the Recovery of any government properties or institutional buildings found to be improperly sold, disposes off or allocated to any individual, company or entity.”
He revealed that the Commission was inaugurated by Kano State Governor on Thursday, 4th April , 2024, at the Ante Chamber, Government House Kano with the Following membership
