KNHA Pledges Speedy Passage of Child Protection Bill into Law

Kano State House of Assembly has pledged speedy passage of Child Protection Bill into Law, the bill which aimed at protecting those rights of children from abuse and would improve on the Welfare of Children in the State.

This was disclosed by the Deputy Speaker and Chairman House Standing Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, Kabiru Hassan Dashi while declaring open a public hearing on Child Protection Bill, 2022 held at the Chamber of the House, Thursday.

Kabiru Hassan Dashi said “it is my sincere belief that institutionalizing the legal framework governing child wellbeing and providing Child Protection Law in the State will not only enlist the State ratings in the eyes of International community but also adopts global best practice and safeguarding children from risks and all forms of exploitations

He further assured the participants and all other stakeholders in the public hearing that they will take into cognizance their constructive inputs and will incorporate them into the draft bill.

Dashi likewise stated that the House would critically examine and ensure that no section or subsections of the proposed bill contradict the tenets and teaching of Islam.

He thanked the Executive Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for transmitting the bill to the House for deliberations consideration and subsequent passage into law and as well applauded the Speaker Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari for his utmost concern and care in ensuring the Speedy passage of the bill, likewise thanked all participants for sparing their time and attend the public hearing as well as appreciate the support of Ministry for Women Affairs and Social Development, Council of Ulamas, ROLAC, UNICEF and many more for their valuable inputs.

A statement by Uba Abdullahi Chief Press Secretary noted that series of papers were presented during the public hearing.
