Christmas: NSCDC deploys 1050 personnel in Jigawa

The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has concluded arrangements to deploy 1050 personnel to provide maximum security during Christmas and News Year celebrations in the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), CSC Adamu Shehu, made this known in a statement in Dutse on Monday.

Shehu said the gesture is also part of the Corps’ measures to provide maximum security of lives, property, as well as protection of Critical National Assets and infrastructure in the state within the period.

He explained that the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Musa Mala, ordered the deployment on Monday during a meeting with all Heads of Departments, Units, Area Commanders and Divisional officers at the Corps Headquarters, Dutse.

The PRO added that the meeting was held to address the security challenges expected before, during and after the festivities with a view to addressing them.

According to him, Mala tasked officers and men to be on their toes to ensure a crime free celebration by providing credible intelligence, round the clock surveillance and effective security coverage across all nooks and crannies of the state.

Shehu said that the commandant, who commended the relative peace enjoyed in the state, added that the Corps will continue to ensure that the tempo is maintained before, during and after the celebrations.

“The deployment will give emphasis on strategic places such as worship and recreational centres, government installations, motor parks, markets, malls, and other vulnerable spots.

“Also Private Guards Companies are equally tasked to assist with intelligence gathering and sharing”, Shehu said.

He added that the commandant advised residents to be vigilant, security conscious and report any suspicious movements to the nearest security formation in thier localities.

“Parents are admonished to control and monitor the activities of their wards, especially the use of knockouts, underaged and reckless driving as such acts endanger their lives and that of the innocent members of the public,” he said.

The PRO said while wishing people of the state a hitch free celebrations and a happy new year, the command enjoined them to remain law abiding and cooperate with the personnel and other security agencies to ensure a successful Yuletide celebrations.
