The Executive Director, Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) has Inusa Zakari Ya’u has described access to internet as a way forward toward enhancing education, healthcare and financial inclusion in Communities.
The Executive Director of CITAD, Mallam Ya’u made the assertion while shedding light to Journalists on Second National School of Community Networks for Micro Organizations, organized by CITAD, currently holding at Digital Bridge Institute, Kano.
Mallam Zakari Ya’u said access to internet is fundamental rights, to cue in with the global trend.
He stressed that even though, Internet is a right to every person, but acccording to him, there are many millions of Nigerians who do not have access to Internet in their Communities, despite the rising spate of Information Technology Globally.

The Executive Director also said, Community without access to Network for Internet will continue to remain dormant, stagnant and moribund.
“One way to address this issue is to mobilise Members of the Communities to train them skills on how to build their own structures so that they don’t have to wait for Government to provide network for them. Sometimes they think those Communities are not profitable,” he further said.
He maintained that, the essence of the program was to train 24 participants, selected from different Communities across Nigeria, give them capacity to enable them design, manage and run network in their Communities without any hitch.
“The School will be conducted in 3-phases namely: Physically, like this one we are conducting now in Kano, it will last for 14 days. After that, two months online training will be organized and then 5-6 months mentoring, at the level of Community.

In a chat with Journalists, some of the participants stated that the program is timely, considering the significance of Internet in every sector of human endeavors.
Noah Ajimobi, from Kagoro Community said the School will give him a leaverage to enhance existing network in his Community
He further stated that most of the People in Communities are not literate, stressing that Network for Internet is mandatory especially when it comes to JAMB, NECO Examinations and other opportunities that require applying through Internet.
Also in his speech, Munir Disu, maintained that the School will address the inadequate of network , noting that, he was selected to represented his community.
