Rape: Kano High Court adjourns for adoption of final addresses

The Kano State High Court Number 6, presided by Justice  Aisha Mahmoud has fixed 27th October, 22 for the adoption final written addresses in the ongoing trial of alleged rape against one Ibrahim Sani.

A resident of Sabon Garin Wudil, Wudil LGA of Kano State was allegedly raped a 7-year- old victim (name withheld) on or about September, 2017 at about 06:00hrs in side his auntie’s room.

Acccording to the charge sheet prepared by Barrister Wada Ahmad Wada, Principal State Counsel, Ministry for Justice Kano State alleged that the defendant committed the act of rape against the victim.

“That you Ibrahim Sani, male, adult of Sabongarin Wudil, Wudil Local Government
Area, Kano State within Kano Judicial Division. On or about 5th September, 2017, at about 06:00hrs, at Sabongarin Wudil committed the offence of Rape to wit you decelved and lured 7- years-old into your Aunty’s room and raped her and thereby committed an offence punishable under sectioin 283 of the Penal Code (as Amended).”

Sani was earlier pleaded guilty of the charge against him.

When the case resumed on Wednesday, the defendant opened and consquently closed his defense without calling any other witness.

Justice Watch News gathered that the Prosecution had earlier called 5 witnesses, including the victim, her father and Investigating Police Officer.

Wada Ahmad similarly tendered 3 exhibits, including defendant’s confessional statement and medical report.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Mahmoud adjourned the case until 27th October for the adoption of final written addresses.
