NACTAL Lauds DG NAPTIP for Collabaration, Support

The NGO Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL) in Nigeria has lauded Professor Fatima Waziri-Azi, the Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), for their ongoing collaboration and support.

National President of the NACTAL Abdulganiyu Abubakar made the commendation in a statement.

1. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in partnership with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP) is implementing the project, “Strengthening Fact-Based and Data-Driven Migration Governance and Management in Nigeria funded by the Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MMPTF).

2. On Monday, 24th June, 2024, under the Project, selected representatives of NACTAL, NAPTIP, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), State Task Force (STF) from the North-West, North-Central and North-Eastern regions conveyed in Abuja Nigeria for a 3-Day Training Workshop on Evidenced Research Tools and Methodologies for Conducting Studies on Irregular Migration and Trafficking In Persons.

3. The event posed an opportunity to appreciate the NAPTIP Director General (DG) Professor Fatima Waziri-Azi for the long-standing collaboration and continuous support to NACTAL.

4. In light of this, I wish to also appreciate the NAPTIP Assistant Director, Research and Programme Development (RPG), Mr. Rasheed Olatunji for all the support. I also commend the NAPTIP Zonal and State Commanders for the very good work they are doing and call on all to continue working and collaborating with NACTAL structures across Nigeria to effectively address and strengthen efforts towards Trafficking In Persons (TIP) related interventions.

5. By this information, I wish to extend my appreciation to the European Union (EU), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), The International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) A-TIPSOM, Palladium Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE), Expertise France, the Government of Netherlands, the Government of the United States through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Government of the United Kingdom, International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) and all other partners who have been supportive.
