Kumbotso Council Chair, Farawa Flagged Off Distributions of Insecticide Nets

Kumbotso Local Government Chairman Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, has lauded the Federal Ministry of Health through the National Malaria Elimination Programme, in collaboration with Ministry of Health kano, and the Roll Back Malaria Partners for their efforts to eradicate miscarriage resulting to loss of life by malaria disease in kumbotso.

The Chairman made this known at flagged off distributions of free Insecticide Treated Nets, to households in Kano State particularly in kumbotso, which held at Farawa primary school mariri ward in the Area.

In his speech, the chairman noted that Malaria disease affects residents of kumbotso, especially children under the age of 5, and pregnant women which sometimes lead to miscarriage and even death.

He said as the Net distributions kick-off, he will use different channels and resources to educate people on important usage of the insecticide treated mosquito nets, to ensure that families protect themselves from mosquito bites by sleeping inside the nets every night.

The Council Chair however expressed his willingness to work collectively with other stakeholders to ensure that children no longer die of malaria.

“No pregnant woman has miscarriage or gives birth to low-birth-weight child, due to malaria disease and generally reduce the burden of malaria in Kumbotso local government Area.”

He urged the people of kumbotso to make themselves available at home, to provide correct information to the mobilizers and distributors, be registered and given nets.

The distribution period will begin from 10th and end on 21st November, 2022.

A statement by M.S Farawa Media Aide said kumbotso Local government will benefit with over 270,2000 insecticide net, through the National Malaria Elimination Programme, in collaboration with Ministry of Health kano and the Roll Back Malaria Partners.
