FRSC Urges Government, Policy Makers, Develop Policies to Make Cycling Safe

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kano State Command in collaboration with Kano State Cycling Federation on Thursday led stakeholders in a rally with advocacy visit on bicycle to critical stakeholders to mark the second edition of World Bicycle Day in Kano State

Addressing Journalists, Kano State Sector Commander Zubairu Mato said United General Assembly slated every 3rd of June.

He explained that the theme of this year’s event was ‘ Save The Cylist’.

Mato encourages to stakeholders to advance in the use of bicycle as means of fostering sustainable development, strengthening education, including physical education among many other advantages.

” The Assembly welcomes initiatives to organized bicycle rides at the national and local levels”

He required Government to develop existing policies to make Cycling safe and attractive this according to the sector Commander will reawakening the course of Non Motorised Transportation ( NMT) in Kano State and Nigeria at large.

He maintained that Non Motorised Transportation System has health, environmental Socio- economic advantages as follows reducing pollution level, promoting physical activities, reducing chance of diabetes, cardiovascular disease reduce obesity Sustainable Traffic Flow, improve climate change increase productivity, quality of life, suitable for car free zones among other advantages.
