2023 Poll: Groups hold Peace Dialogue for Residents in Gama Communities

The Gama First, a community based organisation and Sayyid Abubakar Sadiq Islamic Foundation, (SASIF) all in Gama ward, within Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, organised a Peace Dialogue for the Residents vying for different political positions in Gama and Kaura Goje Communities.

In his speech, the Chairman of Gama First, Dr. Muhammad Shehu Hussein, a Lecturer in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria said the Dialogue was part of  the Groups’ commitments to ensure free, fair and credible elections in Gama Communities and Kano State at large.

He also said Gama First and SASIF will continue  engaging all the contestants, their supporters as well as political parties Chairmen in Gama Ward, with a view to sensitizing them, the important of peace, before, during and after election.

“We’ll not support any political violence in our Communities, under this collaboration, we will commit all contestants to peace accord and who so ever violate the agreement will be forsaken,” Dr. Hussein said

He stressed that if anything happen, Residents  will hold candidates responsible, advising them to sensitize their supporters against any violence.

He noted this is second time Gama First is organizing Peace Dialogue, explaining before 2019 general elections, Gama First Peace Dialogue for all the contestants.

speaking, the Chairman of SASIF, Ustaz Haruna Isma’il, explained that the rational behind the Dialogue  is to bring all the stakeholders together and finetune modalities towards achieving free fair and credible election in Gama Communities, Nassarawa, LGA and Kano as a whole.

“Our main focus is to prevent unnecessary violence during the forthcoming election, we urged all the contestants to warn their supporters against political thuggery,”

“We will not fold our arms seeing our brothers, attacking themselves in the name of politics,” Haruna further stated.

Earlier speaking, Chairman, Organising and Planning Committee of the Summit, Abdulmalik Kasim Gama called on all  contestants and their supporters to conduct their activities in line with the principles, guided by the Electoral Act (2022) as amended.

He reminded all the contestants and their supporters to remember that there is life after election.

“We need to live as brothers and sisters and continue to relate with one another. Let understand that election is not the matter of do or die affairs.” Kasim Gama maintained.

Residents of Gama Communities who are contesting for different political positions in the forthcoming elections, Traditional, Religious leaders, Youth Groups and others attended the Peace Summit, held at Nassarawa Local  Government Education Authority, Gwagwarwa.
