A member of the Federal House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Constituency, has donated a cow, assorted food items, and paid fines totaling N1.35 million for 14 inmates in Goron Dutse Correctional facility.
In his speech while delivering the donations to the Officer in Charge of the Facility, ACC Kafilu Abdullahi, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, who was represented by Kano APC Stalwart, Ahmed Aruwa, said this act of kindness is part of his efforts to bring relief to convicted inmates.
He also said he made a similar visit and gesture last year, stressing that the donations were to cushion the effect of hardships associated with the inmates.

He added that the fine was for the convicted inmates with lesser offences, maintaining that the action will complement Government efforts for correction facility decongestion.
He called on the freed inmates to be of good behavior and use the lessons they learned in the correction facility, noting that the essence of the foodstuffs donation was to make the inmates happy and feel like they are with their families at home.
“This is a period of reflection. I urge you to repent, although some of you are here innocently, but because of destiny from God. This gesture will continue periodically,” the lawmaker stated.
The items donated include: 10 bags of rice, 5 packets of spaghetti, 1 bull, 5 gallons of vegetable oil (small gallons), 100 bags of pure water, 5 cartons of laundry soap, and payment of fines for 14 inmates totaling N1,350,000.

In his speech, ACC Kafilu Abdullahi, Officer in Charge of Goron Dutse Correctional Facility, commended the lawmaker for the gesture.
He noted that the gesture will, of course, support the decongestion exercise. He also assured that he will supervise the distribution of items to the beneficiaries, commending the lawmaker for the gesture.
Similarly, the parliamentarian, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, shared 10,000 units of wax for the vulnerable and less privileged women in his constituencies.

He said the gesture was to bring happiness to the minds of women and girls in his constituencies, insisting that the donation was to support them during their Sallah celebrations.


Speaking on behalf of the women benifiaciries Halima Alhaji Isiya commended Doguwa for the donation and wished him success in his career.
