Nigerian Bar Association NBA has said that all arrangements have been concluded for the kick-off of 61st edition of its Annual General Conference, scheduled to be conducted in Portharcourt, the capital city of Rivers State.
In Programme of the Event, sighted by Justice Watch News revealed that the Conference has been tagged with the hashtag ‘ ‘The Taking Lead’ and billed to hold from October 22 2021 to October 29, 2021 at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Programme similarly revealed that the Conference will commence on October 22, Friday noon, with the Accreditation and pick up conference materials.

The Programme further revealed that on Saturday Members of the conference, will conduct Health Walk, Football Match and Welcome Cocktail.
Other Activities during the Conference including: Multi- denominational Church Services, Opening of Friendship Centre.
Discussions and Presentation of Papers by Revered Legal scholars will be among the activities of the Conference.
The 61st Edition AGC 2021 will be closing with Press Conference.

During the Conference, football Competition will be top highlight of the Annual Gathering
The Chairman of the Technical Committee on Conference Planning, Mr Akin Ajibola, said that there are 16 Registered Teams and Seeding will be done only for the Top 4 Teams that were emerged at the Bar AGC 2019 that was held at Lagos.

Onitsha Branch
Lagos Branch
Jos Branch and
Portharcourt Branch
The Planning Committee resolved that All FIFA FOOTBALL Rules Are Applicable Except Where it is impossible to
Implement.

However, speaking to Journalists, The National President of NBA, Olumide Akpata explained that about 10,000 Lawyers have already registered for the Conference.
Speaking to Justice Watch News, Barrister Aminu Sani Gadanya, Chairman NBA Kano Branch said his Members are delighted to attend the Conference explaining that it is the wish of every lawyer to attend the AGC of the Bar.
” As u know the AGC is commencing tomorrow and in view of that both Kano State Chief Justice and Grand Khadi have issued a circular to the effect that all cases that our members are involved shall be adjourn; this include cases in High Court, Sharia Court of Appeal, Magistrate and Shariah courts”

Speaking on Football Competition, Gadanya maintained that the Kano Branch is participating for the first time in inter branches football competition of ACG”

” We are playing on Friday with the host Branch Portharcourt, Kano Bar team has been prepared and hopefully we will get a good result”. Barrister Gadanya further said.
