Man, 35, arrested with stolen vehicle in Jigawa

Police in Jigawa has arrested one Lawan Sabil in possession of Honda motor vehicle, white in color without registration number, strongly suspected to be stolen.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam Jigawa Police Command Public Relations Officer made the disclosure in a statement on Sunday.

He said Sabil, 35, a resident of Gwarimpa Quarters FCT Abuja, was arrested Today, Sunday at about 1120hrs by Patrol team from Birnin Kudu Divisional Police Headquarters.

He explained that, all efforts to stop the vehicle proved abortive when the patrol men sighted the vehicle at a high speed from a far distance, as the driver was very anxious and refused to slow down.

He stated that while trying to dodge the police, he smashed the cyclist in his front, as a result, the vehicle got hooked and forcefully stopped.

DSP Shiisu pointed out the suspect opened the door and took to his heels, later he was arrested and brought to the station.

He revealed that Likewise, the cyclist was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

“Initially, a distress call was received from neighboring Bauchi State that, unknown persons numbering about three (3) went to S Fawa Motors along Murtala Muhammad Way Bauchi State, and pretended to buy the said car.

“They pleaded to go for a test before they made the payment, but one of the sales attendants insisted on going along with them.

On their way, the suspected motor vehicle thieves forcefully expelled him and zoomed off with the said car, leaving him stranded.

He explained that the rightful owner of the vehicle Usman Zubairu ‘m’ age 40yrs of Federal Locust Bauchi has since surfaced.

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Effiom Emmanuel Ekot, directed that the case should be transferred to SCID Dutse for discreet investigation, upon completion of the investigation, the suspect (s) will be arraigned in court to face the full weight of the law.
