Jigawa Police Command says its operatives attached to Taura Division have arrested a syndicate of a car thieves.
DSP Shiisu Lawan Adam, Jigawa Police Command Public Relations Officer made the disclosure in a statement issued, Friday.
He said on 23rd May, 2023 at about 0300hrs team of Policemen attached to Taura Divisional Police Headquarters, while on Patrol along Kano-Hadejia road, intercepted one Shamsu Salisu ‘m’ age 23yrs and one Shafi’u Yusuf ‘m’ age 22yrs, all of Kwalam village Taura LGA, at Kwanar railway Taura town, with Opel Vectra Motor vehicle with registration number DUT 463 AA, green in color strongly suspected to be stolen.

He stated that the patrol team immediately arrested the occupants of the vehicle to the Divisional headquarters and handed over to the Crime Branch for investigation.
“Prior the recovery, one Abduhamid Mukhtar ‘m’ of Kwalam town Taura LGA, had reported a case of theft of his motor vehicle Opel Vectra, on 22nd May, 2023 at about 2000hrs, in front of his house where he parked and later discovered the car was stolen by unscrupulous elements.”
“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to have used a key of a Toyota Corolla to get access into the said stolen motor vehicle at Chiranchi quarters Kwalam village Taura LGA, belonging to one Abdulhamid Mutari ‘m’ of the same address.” He further stated.
According to DSP Shiisu Adam, in a related development, recalls that on 6th May, 2023 at about 2215hrs one Ibrahim Abdullahi ‘m’ age 27yrs of Naibawa quarters, Kano state, was arrested and brought to Dutse Police station, in possession of one stolen Jincheng Ladies Motorcycle, belonging to one Engr. Abdulaziz Nakore ‘m’ of Aminu Inuwa Housing Estate Danmasara Quarters, Dutse Jigawa state.
He added that on interrogation, the suspect confessed to having committed the offence, he further confessed to being among the gang of thieves terrorizing Aminu Inuwa Housing Estate Danmasara Quarters, Dutse LGA.
He revealed that he broke into several houses within the estate and made away with valuable items.
He revealed that investigation extended further, which led to the arrest of one Ahmed Auwal Jibril ‘m’ of No. 657 Nasarawa LGA, one Umar Aliyu Ahmad ‘m’ of Hotoro Kumbotso LGA, all of Kano state for receiving stolen properties, which includes; HP Computer Laptop, Gold jewelry.
“The cases are now in SCID Dutse for diligent investigation before charging suspects to court for prosecution.
“Meanwhile, residents of the state have been called upon to remain supportive, law-abiding, and vigilant and promptly report acts of crime and criminality to the nearest police station for prompt action.”
Adam emphasized that the Command under the stewardship of CP Emmanuel Effiom Ekot is leaving no stone unturned, as it has continued to sustain the successful tempo in the fight against crime and criminality which is largely due to the proactive approach adopted by the Command.
The CP also assured residents that, the Police will not allow criminally minded persons in the state to have peace, noting that the police will fish them out from their place of abode and ensure they are brought to justice.
