Forty-Year-Old Woman Severely Burned After Setting Herself on Fire

The Jigawa State command of the Nigeria Police says it has  received a report of a heartbreaking incident in Guri LGA. It involves Fatsuma Bagobiri, a 40-year-old woman from Garin Mallam village in Guri LGA, who poured petrol on her body, set herself ablaze, and suffered burns beyond recognition on the outskirts of the village.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam Police Public Relations Officer Jigawa State Command in  a statement said the unfortunate incident occurred Thursday, 22nd August, 2024, at about 0740hrs.

According to him, following receipt of the unflattering report, a squad of officers from the Guri Divisional Police Headquarters raced to the scene of crime, verified the incident, took the charred body to the hospital, and later released the corpse to the family for burial.

He However said , a preliminary investigation found that the deceased experienced depression a few months following her husband’s divorce.

The PPRO maintained that the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi gave the state’s law-abiding citizens advice on how to always submit their affairs to Almighty Allah, pray for blessings, and seek guidance from their elders on any complex matters.
