In a significant operation, the Nigerian Navy has arrested six suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen crude oil, while also destroying illegal refineries in the Niger Delta.

Commodore A Adams-Aliu Director of Information Nigerian Navy made the disclosure in a statement.
He said Nigerian Navy Units under Operation Delta Sanity recorded the successes between Thursday, August 29, and Monday, September 2, 2024.
He maintained that the operation resulted in the seizure of several boats and arrest of suspects, including:

” 7 large Cotonou boats and 2 fibre boats seized on August 29, around the Botokiri axis of Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State
“6 suspected crude oil thieves arrested on August 31, along with 109 sacks of illegally refined petroleum products, 4 fibre boats, and 2 wooden boats in Bayelsa State.

“2 wooden boats and 328 sacks of illegally refined Automated Gas Oil (AGO) seized on September 1”
The Director stated that Nigerian Navy’s efforts to combat crude oil theft and illegal refining activities in the Niger Delta region continue to yield positive results.
