The Kano first ever 24-hours Mega market, named ‘Kofa Farmers Market and Trade Center’ has been officially commissioned on Friday, to further develop economic fortunes, treasures and opportunities for the State.
Addressing Journalists, the Proprietor of the Market, Honourable Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, former member, Federal House of Representatives, and current flag bearer for kiru/bebeji federal constituent, under NNPP Political party, said he conceptualized the idea of the project over 10 years ago.

“Kofa Farmers Market and Trade center is a project conceived and implementation commenced over a decade ago to serve Kano and environ and travelers along the Kano-Zaria express way. The project is born out of our desire to bring development to our people by complimenting efforts by Government in promoting Agriculture, Boost Economic fortunes and provide job opportunities for thousands of young people with its positive impact on the security of our country,”
He revealed that the whole idea of the project was to create a platform for traders with the emphasis on agriculture.

“This will provide enabling environment and ease of doing bussiness for farmers to market their products,”
“The Modern Mega market also provides direct employment opportunity to 500 youths and the number will be hopefully increase to 1000 in few months times, about 10 thousands people will be making their livelyhood daily in the market,” he however said.
Jibril Kofa stated that, he has been in contact with bussiness communities and marketers in the state to further provide variety and bring about different products line in the market.
He further revealed that the Market will provide all inclusive trading opportunities with great economic innovations.
When asked to state on the rent fee of each shop, Kofa explained that ” Be rest assured that a lot of people will have it grossly discount, and perhaps, some will have it free for some years, as part of my contribution to the community,”
He explained that the Phase 1 of the Market was completed and commissioned.
Our Reporter gathered that Phase 1 of the market include: Market with 200 stores open for 24 hours with electricity, steady water supply, professional security personnel and police station.

Other structure include, Mega Service Station with 40 pumps filling station/ diesel, kerosene, cooking gas, restaurant, computer centre, mechanic workshop among others.

Speaking with our correspondent, some of the residents expressed their joy and happiness, Mallam Muhammmad Ado, a farmer said this is golden opportunity for farmers calling on them to use the opportunity and develop their economic potentialities.
Alhaji Auwal Isah, a fabric seller said that with this Modern Mega market he needs not to go far to earn his living, saying this is great opportunity for all of the residents.
