Knowing Pedigree of Justice Osadebay, Chair of Kano Gubernatorial Election Tribunal

Hon. Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadebay, the Chairman of Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, was born in the late 1950s. She had her primary education at the Reagan Memorial Primary School, Iwaya, Lagos.

She later attended St Louis Girls Grammar School, Owo Ondo State for her Secondary school Education and the Ondo High School, Ondo Town, Ondo State.

In the year 1980, she attended the University of Lagos Akoka Lagos to read Law and bagged the LLB (BL) Degree in the year 1983. She attended the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos between the year 1983 to 1984. Between 1984 and 1985 she did her NYSC as a lecturer in Merchantile and Business Law at the then Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos. During this period she was also a part-time lecturer at the Professional Accountancy Tutors (PAT) and the Nigerian Institute of Bankers(NIB).

In 1986,  she attended the University of Lagos where she bagged a Masters Degree in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD) in 1987.

Between 1987 to 1993, she practiced with the Law firm of Fola Akinrinsola and Co in Lagos and later set up her own Law chambers in 1993.

In the year 2004, she was appointed by the Federal Government of Nigeria as a member of the Governing Board of the Nigerian Institute of Oceanographic and Marine Research institute (NIOMR), Victoria Island, Lagos until the year 2006, when she was appointed to serve on the bench in Ondo State.

She was sworn in on the 1st of August 2006 as a High Court Judge in Ondo State, a position she holds till date.

She is a member of the International Association of Refugee Law Judges and a member of the International Federation of Women Judges. She sat as a member on the Election Petitions Tribunals in Delta and Kogi States in 2011 and 2015 respectively. She currently the Chairman of the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

She has attended both Local and international conferences, trainings and seminars. She is the State and Southwest Zonal Coordinator of the Ondo State Justice Reform Team (OSJRT) and the Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Akure.
