The Kano State government has planned to increase the funding of HIV/AIDS response toward ownership and sustainability as the activities of supporting partners are gradually decreasing.

The Director General of Kano state Agency for the control of AIDS, Dr. Usman Bashir made this known weekend at a closing of 2 days workshop organised by the Agency with support from Solina International Development and Research (SCIDaR) held at Hotel Seventeen in Kaduna.
Dr. Usman Bashir said the essence of the workshop wss to finalise and harmonise the Agencies Annual Operations Plans with that of its supporting partners to have more rebust HIV/AIDS activities in the upcoming year of 2024,which will lead to re-purporsing and re aligning of activities that are duplicated, to avoid wastage of scarce resources, so as to put the resources into where there is need for more.

He said KSACA is already planning and preparing its team start implementing activities as an implementint Partner by taking the drivers seat as Donor Support is waning, and is working tireless to improve the capacity of its staff toward ownership and sustainability.
The Director General commended All Partners working in HIV Response in the State, who were present and show-cased their Tentative AOP to harmonise and make all the necessary inputs and recommendations by all stakeholders.
He said the engagement, which was the first of its kind for the agency, yielded a positive result with a robust and all-encompassing AOP with all the necessary costing made awaiting the finalised
State Budget.
