Kano Judicial Service Commission Suspends Court Registrars Over Fraudulent Land Sale

The Kano State Judicial Service Commission, (JSC) has suspended a Court register of the Shari’a court Department, Jamilu Ibrahim along other syndicate found to received illegal funds emanating from a writ of possession that was fraudulently obtained in order to sell two plots of land.

Spokesperson of the Kano Judiciary, Baba Jibo Ibrahim, made the disclosure in a statement, Friday.

He said the Commission took the decision in its 75th meeting held on the 12th September, 2024.

He said sequel to the findings of the investigative committee set up by the JSC to investigate the petition against Jamilu Ibrahim and others, the investigation revealed that Jamilu Ibrahim along with a syndicate were liable for their actions.

Jibo noted that the committee recommended that Jamilu Ibrahim should be dismissed from service, however, according to him, the Judicial Service Commission has suspended Jamilu Ibrahim indefinitely without pay pending the outcome of the trial he is facing before a Magistrate Court.

The Spokesperson additionally said one Zubairu Sulaiman, Registrar of the Upper Sharia Court was also found to have received one million naira into his personal account as a sales commission from the sale of the two plots of land.

“The Judicial Service Commission acting upon the recommendation of the investigative committee has suspended Zubairu Sulaiman for four months without pay.”

“The Commission remains resolute in applying appropriate sanctions against any erring staff, particularly those entrusted with judicial responsibilities, to safeguard the integrity and accountability of the Judiciary and uphold public confidence.” Baba Jibo Ibrahim added.

He maintained that the suspended staff of the Kano Judiciary are Registrars of the Shari’a Court Department.
