The Ladanai Community Development Association in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, has petitioned the Managing Director, Kano State Urban Planning and Development Agency, (KNUPDA) requesting his intervention over the alleged unlawful closure of 300-meter access road, linking Ladanai layout and Ladanai Community.
The petition signed by secretary to the Community, Salisu Abubakar Affa, similarly copied to Kano State Governor, Chairman Nassarawa Local Government, Commissioner Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, Kano State, District Head, Nassarawa Local Government, Commissioner of Police, Kano State, DPO Hotoro Police Divisional Headquarter, and OC DSS Nassarawa Local Government Area.

According to the petition, “The association wish to draw the attention of your good office to a lingering case involving the native of Ladanai Community and a group of some Residents of ladanai layout of Nassarawa LGA.”
It further said, “It is with deep concern that this association is requesting for your prompt intervention to address the issue of about 300 meters Road closure by a group in the name of security for the Layout which has inflicted difficulties to the immediate resident there by preventing motorist from getting access to the main road and schools within the affected area.”

It pointed out that, “This association has consulted the village and ward heads for their intervention so as to avoid any unrest that may lead to breakdown of law and other, but such efforts has not yielded any results because the principal actors have refused to accept the consensus brought to them of keeping the gates while keeping over ten gates closed as we were informed by the Ward Head.”

The Community added that, “In line with the above and our quest to maintain peaceful and harmonious existence, we are requesting for your prompt response and urgent action in addressing the situation to avoid any unwarranted communal problem that could lead to making the situation difficult.”

The petition stressed, “At the moment, the association is humanly committed to ensure the continuous existence of peace in the community by calling the resident to order through series of meetings even as they remained adamant.”
Ladanai Community stated that the association remains resolute to the peaceful coexistence in the community and hope that your office would do all that is possible to address the issue as soon as possible.
It however noted that, despite the inconveniences caused to thousands of people blocking of their alternative route by few individuals, but the affected people remain at peace.

However, when contacted Public Relations Officer of Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority, (KNUPDA), Hajiya Bahijja Mallam Kabara for response, she confirmed that the Commission received the petition from the Association.
She noted that the Authority will visit the area and find out the veracity of the allegations raised in the petition.
She however said the law of the Commission prohibits construction of gate on the road without seeking for approval from the commission, noting that the Law governing the establishment of the KNUPDA has clearly spelt out the punishment of any person found erecting gate on the road without seeking permission from the commission.
