Journalists as fourth estate of the realm

It is obvious that after the three arms of government encompassing the Executive, Legislative as well as the Judiciary comes the pen industry absolutely, the assigned role of Newsmen in a giving society or environment is enormous and pretty hard.

Profoundly speaking, they educate enlighten, entertain, provide linkage between government and the ruled and above all generate source of income for the state.

Thus, it becomes crystal clear that no any responsible administration will relegate members of the pen industry to the background provided they are self contented and hold their respective selves in high esteem and dignity.

Definitely, this is how the situation is in most parts of advanced world where such men were accorded the honour and recognition they highly deserved so as to conduct their functions.

But in a situation where such acts were abused that where the situation lies particularly if the men were not adhering to spelt out norms and values of the profession but rather use their spelt out profession in helping some scores of individuals in settling scores with their hidden and unhidden adversaries just for a pittance.

Directly and indirectly, this is the situation some of our colleagues found themselves nowadays as they were given all the required monetary reward to do the damage not minding the repercussion or rather the negativity of doing so.

To be honest, this will not yield the desired fruit particularly at this period of democratic dispensation although dissent minds may say the environment accords everybody the privilege to say his opinion devoid of hindrance.

Frankly speaking, this is true but in some certain extend such views on most occasions were solely aimed at attacking the image and personality of someone which is against such freedom accorded by the laws of the land.

To be candid, there is the need for our colleagues but far and wide in the pen industry to always be calmed, composed, self satisfied, uphold decorum, be of matured minds and orderly wherever they found themselves.

This without mincing word, will outrightly uplift their charisma, courage, class and prestige in observing their enshrined duties in the locality they found themselves going by their utmost task of informing the uninformed or misinformed.

Before I put a sealing, fellow working mates as they are described as candles that light others and burnt themselves, have an utmost task of shouldering this uppermost responsibility especially in such an environment that might is right was the order of the day similar to what obtained during barbaric or stone age.

But we are quite optimistic and firmly believe that with self patriotism, sacrifice, zeal and determination things will change for good and in a matter of time, things will come to pass like twinkling of an eye especially with patience and perseverance.

An idiom says a word is enough for the wise
SO LONG.
