…During Official Visit to Kano Correctional Facilities
As part of her official working visit to Kano Correctional Centres, the Chief Judge of Kano, Hon. Justice Dije Audu Aboki, has released six inmates who had spent the longest time in custody.

The release was made due to the absence of active prosecution, lack of case files, and prolonged delays in their legal proceedings.
Justice Aboki emphasized that this action aligns with her commitment to reform and improve the administration of justice in Kano State.
She reiterated her call for stronger collaboration among all stakeholders in the justice system, especially the Nigeria Police Force, the Office of the Attorney General of the State, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
She stressed that her aim is to ensure timely dispensation of justice and reduce prolonged pre-trial detention.
She also urged those who regained their freedom to become good ambassadors of society by avoiding criminal activities and contributing positively to their communities.

The Controller of Corrections, Kano State Command, Ado Inuwa, cautioned the released inmates to abide by the law and refrain from actions that could return them to incarceration.

He also commended the Controller General of Corrections, CGC Sylvester Indidi Nwakuche, for his continuous commitment to inmate welfare and rehabilitation, especially through skills acquisition programs and educational opportunities aimed at helping inmates become self-reliant.
