The Integrity Youth Alliance has pushed back against media reports claiming Assistant Inspector General of Police Usaini Gumel was redeployed to Community Policing, Research, and Planning for allegedly calling the suspension of Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara unconstitutional.

The Real Reason Behind Gumel’s Transfer National Coordinator Kelvin Adegbenga says Gumel’s transfer is actually a recognition of his exceptional community policing experience, particularly in Kano State.

During his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Kano, Gumel Reduced Drug Abuse, successfully combated drug abuse and peddling at the grassroots level, earning an appreciation letter from the Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in January 2024.
