70 Kano Youths Depart for Overseas Studies Courtesy of Senator Barau’s Scholarship

Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has awarded foreign postgraduate scholarships to 70 youths across Kano State, empowering them to study abroad and acquire specialized skills in fields like artificial intelligence, cyber security, and forensic robot sciences.

Delivering his speech during the farewell ceremony for the beneficiaries organised by Barau Jibrin Foundation, Deputy Senate President urged them to see themselves as ambassadors of Kano and Nigeria as a whole.

He equally advised the beneficiaries to read hard and obtain good result.

He further said, “After completing your programmes, we want you to come back home so that you can make an impact in our society to develop Kano State and Nigeria in general.”

This is just the beginning of this program; we will continue to identify deserving youths, irrespective of their political party affiliations or philosophical beliefs. What is important to us is education, regardless of political affiliations. I want you to concentrate on your studies while abroad.”

He added that the programme aligns with the vision of the North-West Development Commission he sponsored the bill for its establishment.

He noted that the headquarters of the Commission will be situated in Kano, advising youths in the region to use the opportunity provided to them.

According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu proposes N500 billion to the Northwest development commission, highlighting that the the Commission will focus on promoting health, security, education and infrastructural development of region.

Also speaking, the Former Vice Chancellor of the Bayero University Kano, Professor Yahuza Bello lauded Senator Barau Jibrin for coming up with scholarship program.

He also said it means a lot for a single individual to provide foreign scholarship considering the dollar change rate currently.

He urged the beneficiaries to represent their religion, state, culture and country everywhere they found themselves in the world.

The event’s highlights included the presentation of a comprehensive package to the students, comprising travel documents, laptop computers, hijabs for the female students, and a copy of the Holy Qur’an.
