In a statement signed by the Secretary General of the Association, Comrade Nuhu M. Nuhu, WUCOBA applauded the recent remarks by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, during his visit to Murtala Muhammad Senior Secondary School, Tarauni Local Government Area.

The visit and his inspection of ongoing renovation works at Government Girls Secondary School, Guringawa, were described as “a clear demonstration of the government’s resolve to reposition education in the state.”

However, the association called on the state government to extend similar intervention to Government Secondary Commercial School, Wudil a once-distinguished institution now struggling with serious infrastructural and moral challenges.

According to the statement, the school suffers from deteriorating classrooms, uninhabitable hostels, and an overall learning environment that requires urgent government attention.

“While we acknowledge and commend His Excellency, Engr. Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his administration’s progressive efforts, we humbly request that Government Secondary Commercial School, Wudil be considered in the next phase of intervention projects. The school urgently requires renovation and fencing to protect students from undue exposure, given its proximity to university campuses and other adult social environments,” the statement read.

The Association also highlighted the extraordinary contributions of its members, noting that WUCOBA has over the years executed several developmental projects in the school, including the supply of three-seater chairs, laptops, mattresses, chalkboards, chalk, and other learning materials.

“These are contributions driven by a sense of responsibility, community service, and love for education. Our old boys have consistently filled the gap where successive administrations failed. Their efforts deserve not only commendation but also complementary action from the government,” the statement added.

WUCOBA concluded by expressing confidence in the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and called on the Ministry of Education to include Government Secondary Commercial School, Wudil, in its priority list for school rehabilitation and infrastructural upgrade.
