The Newly appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 12, AIG Oluwole Olukayode has charged personnel of the Force in the zone to work with sister agencies and key relevant stakeholders as well as engaging communities, towards having violence free election in the zone.

He made the charge when he visited Gombe state command’s Headquarters on Friday.
He said the call was imperative to have a successful and rancour free general elections in the state and zone as a whole.

He also said the purpose of the visit was to sensitize Police of their responsibilities of maintaining law and order to successifully have violence free elections.
He reminded officers and men of the command that their role is not only arresting, investigating and prosecuting criminals but also creating synergy with members of the society.
He also promised to provide adequate security, protecting human right as well as welfare of the police across the zone.
Earlier in his speech, the Commissioner of Police Gombe state command, CP Oqua Etim said the command has robust relationship with members of the traditional rulers, religious leaders, and Members of the Civil Society Organisations to maintain peace across the state.

The Commissioner further briefed the AIG about the security situation in the state, noting that despite the challenges of kidnapping and boundry disputes, the state is currently the most peaceful place in the country.
