Troops Neutralize Bandit, Recover AK-47 in Successful Operation

As part of ongoing clearance operations aimed at flushing out bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements from Taraba State, gallant troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) recorded a successful encounter during an operation on 27 June 2025 in Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 6 Brigade Nigerian Army made this known in a statement.

He said acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected bandits, troops stationed at Kwesati swiftly deployed and tactically established a position along a suspected crossing route.

He maintained that during the operation, the troops made contact with the criminals and engaged them with superior firepower.

He added, that the intensity of the engagement forced the bandits to flee in disarray, with several suspected to have escaped into the surrounding forest with gunshot wounds. One bandit was neutralized during the encounter.

Following the operation, troops conducted a thorough exploitation of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine containing three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one motorcycle, and two mobile phones.”

Speaking on the successful operation, Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism.

He reiterated the Brigade’s resolve to sustain aggressive operations until all threats are neutralized within the state.

He encouraged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts in ridding the state of criminal elements.

Captain Oni noted that the successful operation is a testament to the resilience of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS to ensuring the safety and security of communities across Taraba State.
