Traffic Police have appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Kayode Egbetokun
to intervene and facilitate ongoing process of Traffic Wardens Promotion flagged off by his predecessor Usman Alkali Baba, CFR.
A strong worded petition addressed to the police boss that sighted by Justice Watch News explained that the process would ensure the elevation of deserving officers of the Force to their next ranks on the basis of years in service, experience, and qualification.

It could be recalled that the Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Mr. Solomon Arase, had assured that under his watch, no police personnel will remain stagnated on a rank.
The Traffic police lamented that the “Traffic Wardens 1991 intakes are still Senior Traffic wardens (STW) which is equivalent to (Inspector), while the Conventional Police in the same intake are now Assistant Superintendent of Police.”


It further stated that “the 2007 and 2008 of Traffic Warden intake are still hanging the rank of Sergeants, while, the conventional Police of the same intake and some are even our juniors (2007-2008-2009) are already promoted to the rank of inspector. ”

The Traffic Wardens in the petition “appeal to the new IGP who is our father to look into this predicament matter and ensure that we received our due Promotion in a meantime.”
The Traffic wardens insisted that as an integral part of the Nigeria Police Force authorities should apply equality and justice before the law and be promoted to the next rank respectively.

The petition stressed that “the process will ensure the elevation of deserving officers of the Force to their next ranks on the basis of years in service, experience, and qualification”.
It assured that “this will also served as your unwaveringly dedication to ensuring robust and equitable career progression within the Nigeria Police Force.”
