Three suspects Arrested for Vandalizing High Tension Electricity Cable in Katsina

58-year old Haris Ishaq and two other accomplices have been arrested, over their suspected involvement in a high tension electricity cable vandalism by operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Katsina State Command.

Deputy Superintendent of Corps in Katsina, Mohammed Abdara, made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday.

He explained that the suspects were arrested on May 16, along Sabongida-Bugaje Road, in Jibiya Local Government Area of the state by its anti-vandal team during a routine patrol exercise.

He further explained that the principal suspect, 58-year-old Haris Ishaq, who is a native of Yangero village, in Jibiya Local Government Area, had already confessed to being part of the crime and has sold some of the vandalised cables.

The two other suspects, acccording to the statement include 28-year-old Auwal Hamisu and 35-year-old Ibrahim Sabi were arrested because of their suspected complicity in the crime.

“Hamisu, a resident of Yarnmawa Quarters in the Katsina Metropolis, bought 30kg of the cables at the cost of 9,500 Naira.

Sani, who resides at Sabongida Quarters, aided the lead suspect to commit the crime.

In the statement, spokesman of the Corps further said the command has concluded its investigation on the matter, as the 3 suspects will be charged to court.

He expressed the commitment of the Katsina NSCDC command, to collaborate with other security agencies, to fight crime and insecurity in the state.
