Katsina Command of Nigeria Police says it has arrested one Sani Bello, 53, a suspected notorious spiritual leader and herberlist of terrorists-bandits, terrorizing Katsina, Kaduna and Zamfara states.
CP Shehu Umar Nadada, Commissioner of Police Katsina state Command made the disclosure at a press briefing, Tuesday.
CP Nadada represented by SP Gambo Isah Command’s spokesperson said the suspect a resident of Maiduguri Road, Sabuwa Township, Sabuwa LGA of Katsina state was arrested on 26th Nov. 2022 at about 0600hrs, based on a tip off
He pointed out that in the course of investigation, four (4) native bullet proof jackets, covered with criminal talisman were recovered in his possession.
“Suspect confessed to be a spiritualist that supply terrorists with Gun-Jazz and criminal charms for gun protection and offer prayer for them not be arrested or harm by security agents in all their heinous operations.”
“He also confessed that he sold each of the jackets at the cost of sixty thousand naira, (N60,000:00K) to any interested terrorist.” He said
He further said investigation is ongoing.
The CP Also said the Command has also arrested a suspected Member of a Gang of Terrorists, under the camp of a suspected notorious terrorists leader, Kamilu Buzaru, who has been on police wanted list.
“On 11st Nov. 2022 at about 1700hrs, the Command succeeded in arresting one Murtala Amme, ‘M’, aged 20yrs of Unguwar Mazare, Danmusa LGA of Katsina state, a suspected terrorist.
“In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to belong to the camp of one “KAMILU BUZARU”, a notorious terrorist, on the wanted list of the police, terrorizing Danmusa LGA and its environs.”
He maintained that the suspect confessed to have participated in several attacks on communities in the area leading to kidnappings for ransom and cattle rustlings and mentioned one (1) Nagge, ‘M’, (2) Abu, ‘M’, (3) Habu, ‘M’, (4) Hamisu, ‘M’, and (5) Ahmed, ‘M’, (now at large) as his accomplices.
He noted that investigation is ongoing.
The Commissioner similarly that explained that on 28th November September, 2022 at about 1230hrs, one Abubakar Tambaya, ‘M’, aged 45yrs of Zaria Road, Funtua, came to Poice Headquarters, Katsina and reported that he has seen and identified his motor vehicle Number Plate, with registration No. EE 970 ABJ, during Police Press Conference, held on 31st August, 2022, at the Command Headquarters, Katsina, where the Command paraded a syndicate of motor vehicle snatchers, under a notorious ring leader, one Muhammed Lawal Ibrahim, alias “ABBA KALA” alongside thirteen (13) recovered motor vehicles; during which the complainant’s number plate was recovered in the possession of the syndicate.
He further noted that in the course of investigation, the said motor vehicle, Honda Fish-Eye, was trailed and recovered at Maradi, Niger Republic, already sold by the syndicate.
“The said motor vehicle was stolen on 5th July, 2022 at about 0200hrs, from where it was parked at Funtua, property of the said Abubakar Tambaya, valued nine hundred and fifty thousand naira (N950,000:00), noting that investigation is ongoing.
He revealed that on 23rd November, 2022 at about 1745hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Ibrahim Dayyabu, ‘M’, aged 35yrs, of Gobirawa village, Maidabino, Danmusa LGA, a suspected terrorist and supplier of motorcycles to terrorists hibernating in the forest.
He further revealed that nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was accosted by Police Patrol Team attached to Kankara Division in possession of a new brand, Honda 125 motorcycle (BOKO HARAM) while on his way into the forest, reasonably suspected to be a supply to the bandits.
“In the course investigation, suspect confessed to belong to the camp of notorious terrorist, one Mani Doro and has bought over seven (7) motorcycles for the terrorists.
According to him, on the 2nd November, 2022 at about 1945hrs, based on a tip off, one Davic Eric Uchenna, A.K.A. Ibrahim Muhammed, aged 19yrs of Orji River LGA of Enugu state was arrested at Kofar Sauri Quarters, Katsina, that he is strongly suspected to be a kidnapper.
“In the course of investigation, suspect confessed of belonging to the gang of proscribed terrorist group “Eastern Security Network”, (ESN) with their camp at Akpogozie forest in Orji River LGA of Enugu state under the leadership of one Eminike a.k.a. “SAPALE” with over four (400) hundred members, terrorizing the South Eastern states of Nigeria.”
He further confessed that his gang kidnapped someone in Imo state and collected the sum of ten million-naira (10,000, 000:00K) ransom. But stole the sum of seven hundred (N700,000:00K) from the camp and escaped to Katsina state, alongside one Chuckwumeka and Chinemerem, which the duo had left Katsina since to evade arrest.
He added that the suspect confessed committing series of crimes ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping and other heinous crimes in the eastern states of Nigeria. Investigation is ongoing.
