Speaker Falgore emphasizes importance of representations, oversight, lawmaking in KNHA

The Kano State House of Assembly has reiterated stands on its trio functions of law makings, representations and over sight functions with a view to ensuring steady development across the state.

The Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore made this known at a closing session of five day retreat, organized and sponsored by Kano State government for the members and management staff of the House held in Abuja.

Falgore said the skills, ideas and knowledge acquired during the retreat would be used judiciously and practically for the advancement of the House and the state in general.

He pledged to continue discharging their constitutional responsibilities in a team work with a view to impact the lives of the people in the State positively.

Falgore, further thumb up the State Governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf for sponsoring the retreat which he identified as a gateway for advancing legislative processes, procedures and proceedings among others in the legislative body.

He equally thanked the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo for attending the retreat despite his tight schedules and as well as resource persons who show case their talents knowledge experiences and exposures on legislative treatments which they shared with both the Honorable members and the management Staff for effective service delivery.

One of the participants and member representing Albasu Constituency, in the House, Musa Tahir Hungu said the retreat had really served it’s purposes by injecting new ideas and modalities of legislative processes, proceedings and procedures in accordance with global best practice.

Hungu also expressed gratitude to the State Governor and Hon members for attending the retreat through out the days slotted for the retreat.

Similarly, the Deputy Clerk, Alhaji Nasiru Magaji assured both the State government and the House that management staff would definitely used the acquired knowledge on daily practice for the betterment and development of the House.

However, Uba Abdullahi, Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State House of Assembly said communique drafting Committee headed by Lawan Husaini Chediyar ‘Yan Gurasa, who is also the Majority Leader (Dala Constituency) presented it’s report which highlighted the objectives of the retreat as follows; to strengthen the capacity of the members and management staff on effective legislative practices and procedure, avails the participants the opportunity to analyse the content and structure of fund management law towards operationalization and implementation of financial autonomy, identify the significance and development of annual work plan for all House activities among others where as the communique resolved that efforts should be made for the implementation and development of annual work plan documents, regular training and retraining of members and staff of the House should be given utmost consideration to enhance performances, effective oversight functions on MDAs should be the business of the day to improve transparency and accountability in governance and as well as the leadership of the House should ensure strict compliance and implementation of the resolutions reached in the retreat.

The Communique was later agreed and adopted by the participants.
