The Prosecutor, Insp. Olaide Rawlings told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in December 2021 at Olorunsogo area of Abeokuta, Ogun.

Olaide alleged that the defendant had fraudulently presented himself as a agent who had parcel of land to sell to the two unsuspecting complainants, Mr Olalekan Ogunlade and Mr Adeniyi Adeyanju.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant allegedly collected N650,000 and N500,000 from both complainants but failed to remit the proceeds to the actual owner of the land who denied them access to the land.

She alleged that the defendant neither refunded the complainants their money nor allotted another parcel of land to them.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 419,390(9) and 383(1)(2)(a)of the Criminal Codel Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs I.O Abudu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.

Abudu ordered that the surety, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, should provide evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government as part of the bail conditions.

She adjourned the case until Nov 24 for trial.
