Securing National Assets: Police Arrest 11 Suspects, Others in Jigawa

Jigawa state Police Command says in its efforts to securing National Assets has arrested Eleven suspected vandals.m, thieves, drug barons and recovered 33KVA High Tension Wires 3 motorcycles and others.

DSP Shiisu Lawan Adam Command’s Spokesperson made this known in a statement on Friday.

He said following the directives given by the Commissioner of Police Jigawa State Command CP AT Abdullahi to all Divisional Police Officers in the command, to embark on massive raids of all black spots and criminal hideouts in their Area of Responsibilities (AORs) in his efforts to reduce crime and criminalities to the barest minimum across the state through effective crime control.

However, he said, during the period under review, covering 28th January to 4th February 2024, policemen attached to Babura, Kazaure, Sule/Tankarkar and Taura Divisional Police Headquarters, acting on credible Intelligence, raided criminal hideouts at Babura Motor Park, Katoge quarters, Bakin Kasuwa and Sabon Garin Yaya all in Babura, Kazaure, S/Tankarkar and Taura LGAs respectively.

He added that during the raids, Six (6) suspects namely; Abdulkarim Ibrahim ‘m’ age 35yrs of Kofar Yamma Babura LGA, Aliyu Abdullahi ‘m’ age 25yrs of Kofar Arewa Babura LGA, Naziru Ibrahim ‘m’ 23yrs of Katoge quarters, Abdullahi Garba ‘m’ age 35yrs of Nguru LGA, Yobe State, Munzali Suraja ‘m’ age 20yrs of Koren Shehu village Taura LGA and Haruna Amadu ‘m’, age 20yrs of Rugar Sarkin Fada village Taura LGA, were arrested.”

He noted that the exhibits recovered include: One (1) Block and some quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, Four hundred and ninety six(496) Exol tablets, One hundred and twenty three (123) Tramadol tablets, Nine (9) bottles of Pentazymin injections, Three (3) syringesa and One bag of shoes

He added that On 2nd Feb.2024 at about 0700hrs, information received from reliable source at S/Tankarkar, Police Division had it that, one unregistered Boxer Motorcycle was stolen at Maitsamiya village S/Tankarkar LGA.

“Upon receipt of the information, Police patrol team were detailed and fortunately while on patrol, intercepted an unknown person with a Boxer Motorcycle strongly suspected to be a stolen motorcycle.”

“On sighting the patrol team, the suspect abandoned the motorcycle and escaped to an unknown destination. Meanwhile, effort is intensified with a view to arresting the fleeing suspect for prosecution.”

DSP Shiisu further said in another development, on 3rd Feb. 2024 at about 0017hrs, a team of policemen attached to Birniwa Divisional Headquarters, while on patrol, spotted three suspects vandalizing electric cable wires along Birniwa-Kumsa axis.

He explained that on the process, one among the vandals, named Usman Inusa ‘m’ age 25yrs of Borno state, but residing at Nguru LGA, Yobe State, was arrested and a motorcycle, one hacksaw, one sack and a long rope were recovered from him, noting thwy Suspect was immediately transferred to SCID Dutse for discreet investigation.

“On interrogation, at SCID Dutse, the suspect confessed to have conspired with the other two suspects one Audu and one Dan Kano, who are now at large in committing the crime.”

“Efforts are intensified to arrest the other fleeing suspects.”

“On 3rd feb.2024 at about 1900hrs, one Lawan Iliyasu ‘m’ of Kora village Buji LGA reported at Gwaram Police Station that, on 28/01/2024 at about 0300hrs, unknown persons trespassed into his house and stole away his Motorcycle Jincheng white in colour with Registration Number QD740 BKD, valued at six hundred thousand (N600,000.00k).

“Upon receipt of the report, detectives from Gwaram Police Division, swung into action, where three suspects namely; Usaini Mohd ‘m’ age 20yrs, Ammar Sani ‘m’ age 20yrs, Tasiu Rabiu ‘m’ age 20yrs all of Azare LGA, Bauchi state were intercepted at Azare town, Bauchi State and the stolen motorcycle was recovered in their possession.”

“On interrogation at Divisional crime Branch, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime.”

“Patrol team attached to Miga Division, while on routine patrol, on 4th Feb 2024 at about 0800hrs, at Garin Sidi village arrested one Rabiu Muhammad Kani ‘m’ age 40yrs of Majema quarters, Hadejia LGA with 33KVA High Tension Electric Cable wires strongly suspected to be stolen.” He maintained.

He pointed out that, hence he was taken to the Divisional Crime Branch for further questioning.

DSP Shiisu revealed that on interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and that he had been on this business to earn a living.

He further stated that he make traditional pots at his blacksmith workshop with the stolen wires and disposed it to various markets, but unfortunately he was grabbed by the Policemen at this medium.

“All the suspects arrested will be charged to court upon completion of investigation at SCID Dutse to face the wrath of the law.
