Jigawa state command of Nigeria Police has arrested one Aminu Abdullahi, 30, of Bornu-Kishi, Yobe State who alleged to have stolen property of Government Girls Unity Secondary School, Kazaure.
DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State Command made the disclosure in a statement.
He said on 19th Sept. 2023 one Bashir Ahmed ‘m’ 50yrs, the Vice Principal, Government Girls Unity Secondary School Kazaure, reported at Kazaure Police station that, on 18th Sept 2023 at about 1700hrs, he discovered that some of the school properties were stolen by unknown persons.
He pointed that out on receipt of the report, a surveillance squad attached to Kazaure Division stormed one shop at Kan Gada quarters Kazaure LGA, where one Hassan Adamu ‘m’ 30yrs of Bornu-Kishi village Yobe State, who happened to be a security guard in the school was arrested with two sacks containing the following items:
DSP Shiisu however identified the property recovered as 1 printer machine, 2 mini computers, 2 ceiling fans and 1 disc receiver.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed that he used a master key to open the store and made away with the aforementioned school items.
“Initially, a team of detectives visited the scene of the crime, and the master key was recovered.” He stated.
The PPRO further stated that the vice principal identified the recovered items to be school property stolen by the suspect.
He further lamented that other items are; kerosene stove, electric kettle, aluminum pot, hairdresser, and saloon equipment are still missing.
He maintained that in another development, on 14th Sept, 2023 at about 1700hrs, a surveillance squad attached to Kiyawa Division, arrested one Aminu Abdullahi ‘m’ age 30yrs of Balagu village Kiyawa LGA, in possession of one cow strongly suspected to be stolen.
He continued that on interrogation, the suspect stated that about one month ago, he went to Kudai village Dutse LGA, to work on the farm of one Baba Haruna, on his way back home, he saw the said cow behind one house and decided to steal it.
He noted that the rightful owner of the cow was traced and he identified his cow.
DSP Shiisu Furthermore stated that on 14th Sept. 2023 at about 1000hrs, one Salisu Ali ‘m’ age 40yrs of Kantsauni quarters Roni LGA, reported at Roni Police station that, on the same date at about 0340hrs, unknown hoodlums trespassed into his house, beat him up with sticks and made away with his one handset and some quantities of unhatched rice.
“On receipt of the report, Policemen on patrol were detailed of the development; on the same date one Ali Alto ‘m’ age 22yrs of Kantsauni quarters was arrested and brought to the station in connection with the case.”
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.
“He further revealed that he conspired with the following persons; Sammani Ado ‘m’ age 20yrs, Jafar Abdullahi ‘m’ age 19yrs, and Abubakar Sani ‘m’ age 15yrs, all of the Kantsuni quarters Roni LGA, and trespassed into the house.”
Subsequently, he added that on 18th Sept 2023, one Fatima Aminu ‘f’ 42yrs of Kanti Gabas quarters Kazaure LGA, reported that on 17th Sept 2023 at about 1100hrs she discovered that unknown thieves stole her two goats valued at fifty thousand naira (₦50,000.00k).
“On receipt of the report, detectives attached to Kazaure Police station acted on credible information and arrested one Ibrahim Alhassan ‘m’ 20yrs and Bashir Babangida ‘m’ 19yrs all of Ganguli quarters Kazaure LGA, who alleged to have been conspired, stole the said goats, and transported them to Danbatta Market, Danbatta LGA, Kano state to dispose them.
He explained that on interrogation, the suspects made a confessional statement admitting to the offence.
He added that all suspects arrested will be arraigned before the court to face the full wrath of the law.
