The Zamfara State Police Command says it has arrested fourty (40) Suspected hoodlums who allegedly took advantege of the announcement of Governorship result on Tuesday 21st March 2023 and embarked on Jubilation that later turned to violence, leading to the distruction and looting of Government facilities, APC Party offices and Individual Houses mostly those of Politicians.
In a statement by SP Mohammed Shehu Command’s Public Relations Officer on Friday said the Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf who led Joint Police and other security agencies brought the situation under control and thereafter arrested twenty six (26) suspects in connection with the incident.
He also said Area Commanders and DPOs also embarked on similar exercise in their respective area to avert escalation.
He pointed out that the ongoing investigation by the Police detectives led to the arrest of another fourteen (14) suspects and recovery of looted and vandalised property as underlisted above.
The Commissioner of Police while appealing for calm, reassured for deligent investigation with a view to arresting fleeing suspects and their collaborators for prosecution as well as recover the looted property.
SP Shehu, however identified the suspects as
Yahaya Abubakar, M, 50yrs and 39 others
The underlisted are some of the exhibits recovered by the Police Detectives
Thirty Six (36) Bundles of Wrappers Eight (8) Cushion Chairs, Three (3) Set of Television, One (1) 5000 Litre Tank, One (1) Solar Panel, Six (6) bag of POP Cement, One (1) Golf three Vehicle, Two (2) Speakers, One (1) Caterpiller Radiator, Two (2) Rugs Carpet and One (1) Freezer.
Others include: One (1) Bundle of Armoured Cable wire,Three (3) Window Burglary proofs, One (1) Big gate, One (1) Office Centre Table, One (1) Centre Table Drawer, One (1) Air Conditioner, Seven (7) Iron Rods, Four (4) Doors, One (1) Ceiling Fan, Four (4) Signboard Banners of APC, Pieces of Office Cotton, Drugs and Tablets, Three (3) Office Chairs, Bags of Rice, Cutlasses, Knives and Sticks.
