President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially reinstated Alhaji Salihu Abdul Hamid Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), following an earlier administrative error that led to his premature removal.

Alhaji Dembos, a native of Adamawa State, was originally appointed to the position in October 2023 for a five-year tenure.

However, a statement issued by Mr. Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), erroneously announced Mr. Rotimi Pedro as the new DG of NTA.

The presidency has now reversed that decision. In a fresh announcement released on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Presidential Spokesperson Mr. Bayo Onanuga confirmed that President Tinubu has directed the reinstatement of Alhaji Dembos to complete his remaining three years in office.

In the same directive, the President also ordered the recall of Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, Executive Director of News at NTA, to continue his tenure until its conclusion in 2027. Mr. Adewuyi was appointed to the role in 2024.

According to a bulletin from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the initial miscommunication regarding Mr. Pedro’s appointment was acknowledged and corrected by the SGF’s office.
