Possession of Firearms: Nasarawa CP Bans Vigilante Groups, Others

The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shehu Umar Nadada has officially declared the ban of Ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organizations in Nasarawa State, in accordance with Executive Order No.1 of 2024.

The Commissioner of Police emphasized that the ban includes groups such as the Kungiyar Zaman Lafia Nomad vigilante, Bassa vigilante, Eggon vigilante, and any other organization aiming to provide ethnic-based security using force or arms within the state.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, Nasarawa Command Police Public Relations Officer disclosed this in a statement.

He said all Area Commanders, Divisional Police officers, and Heads of Department/Tactical teams in the Command have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of this ban.

He also said Members of these groups are required to surrender all uniforms and equipment to the nearest police authorities within two weeks from the issuance of this directive.

The PPRO  stressed that CP Shehu Umar Nadada warned that individuals found operating or possessing prohibited firearms will face immediate arrest and the full weight of the law.
