Police Repel Bandits Attack, Recover Rustled Cows, Sheep in Katsina

Katsina Command of Nigerian Police says it has successfully repelled bandits attack at kurami village, Bakori LGA of Katsina State and recovered 149 rustled cows and 33 sheep.

The Command’s Spokesperson SP Gambo Isah made this known at a press briefing on Thursday.

He said the operation was part of the on the ongoing onslaught against banditry, armed robbery, cattle rustling, kidnapping and other forms of crime an criminality in the state.

Acccording to him on Feb 22 at about 0730hrs, the Katsina state Command acted on credible intelligence that terrorists in their numbers, armed with sophisticated weapons, attacked Kurami village, Bakori LGA of the state and rustled unspecified number of animals.

” A combine team of Police, Military and vigilante at Sheme were alerted to block the terrorists at their exit route into the forest.

” The team succeeded and blocked the hoodlums at Kwakware village, Sheme area of Faskari LGA, engaged them into a fierce gun duel and succeeded in recovering one hundred and forty-nine (149) rustled cows and thirty-three (33) Sheep.

” On Feb 9 at about 0200hrs, the command succeeded in busting the syndicate of kidnappers that are conspiring with terrorists to attack villages and kidnap victims for ransom. Nemesis caught up with the trio of one Shamsuddeen Dahiru, ‘M’, aged 35yrs of Tudun Wada Quarters, Funtua LGA (2) Bala Inuwa, alias “Kurkur”, ‘M’, aged 35yrs of Jabiri Quarters, Funtua LGA and (3) Jamilu Isah, ‘M’, aged 35yrs of Kofar Marusa Quarters, Katsina, notorious members of syndicate of kidnappers and terrorists.

” They specialized in giving information to terrorists in the forest and as well conveying them in a motor vehicle to villages for attacks and kidnappings.

He explained that in the course of investigation, one of the suspect Shamsuddeen Dahiru confessed to be the owner and driver of a motor vehicle Gulf III, with registration number BKR 367 XA, that was used in kidnapping one Alhaji Sule “m”, aged 62yrs of Dankawuri village, Matazu LGA on  Feb 10.

He maintained that the said vehicle was abandoned with the kidnapped victim after fierce gun duel with Policemen and one AK 47 rifle was recovered.

He further explained that dahiru confessed to have participated with mentioned suspects as his accomplices.

He added that investigation is ongoing.

SP Gambo similarly said that on the Feb 13 at about 1700hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in arresting one Hajiya Fatima Alh. Bammi, ‘F’ aged 35 years of Daha forest, Danmusa LGA an abettor, informer and also a supplier of criminal charms to terrorist bandits terrorizing the state and its’ environs.

” In the course of investigation, some criminal charms were recovered from the suspects’ residence reasonably believed to be used for banditry activities where the suspect further confessed to be supplying same to one Sani Mohidinge, a notorious terrorist bandit’s leader who has been on the commands wanted list. Investigation is ongoing.
