Nasarawa State Command of Nigeria Police has confirmed the abduction of First Class Emir Gurku, Alhaji Jibrin Muhammed and his wife last night by bandits from his palace, in Garku, off Abuja-Keffi highway.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, Nasarawa Command’s Spokesperson made the confirmation in a statement issued on Monday.
He confirmed that on the 6th August 2023 around 10pm a distress call was received by the Nasarawa Police Command that the Palace of Chief of Burku Town located 10km away from mararraba main town mountainous area was invaded by men suspected to be kidnappers.

He also said upon receipt of the information the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Maiyaki Muhammed deployed a combined team of police operatives in collaboration with the members of vigilantee group to the scene.
“Upon arrival it was discovered that the chief and his wife were abducted to unknown destination.”
“The surrounding bushes and the mountain were combed, but all efforts to get him proved abortive.” DSP Nansel stated.
He further stated tha the CP has further deployed additional men of the tactical teams and kidnapping units and men from Karu Area Command to the scene.

He added that efforts is ongoing to rescue the chief and his wife unhurt.
