PCRC Chair, Maikwalta Condemns Naval Officer Killing

The Kaduna State Police Community Relations Chairman (PCRC) Alhaji Sunusi Maikwalta has strongly condemned the murder of a Naval Officer at Kawo Bus Stop penultimate week.

He said it’s utterly shocking and horrible that such gallant officer could be killed by a phone snatcher, while trying to fix his punctured tyre of his vehicle.

Maikwalta made sorrowful remarks in a statement issued signed by his Special Assistant Comrade Ali Attahiru made available to newsmen in aftermath of the unfortunate incident in Kaduna, saying it’s avoidable situation if all hands would be on deck.

Maikwalta then described the incident as a senseless act of violence and a reflection of growing moral decay among youths in the society, reminding that the alleged handset snatcher who is said to be lynched by passers-by whose was a threat to public peace and security.

“The killing of a uniformed personnel who gives their lives to makes us safe is not only catastrophic but an affront to values of discipline, order, and respect for human life,” the Chairman added.

“We, as a community, must stand united against such acts of criminality, support our security agents and other innocent citizens who go about their normal hustle to eke a living in this trying times of economic hardships.”

The Chairman then reminded parents of their onerous responsibility to train and groom their children to be better citizens as leaders of tomorrow, while frowning at those who condone and protect their kids acts of socially disapproved behaviour, which he said, compounds later to make them commit such criminal acts of murder, arson and other criminal conducts.

He then commended the prompt response of the Kaduna State Police Command in apprehending suspects linked to the crime which he believed would make them accountable to their actions.

“I am calling on Kaduna state citizens to remain vigilant and cooperative to law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information that could help forestall future occurrences of such tragic events.

“The safety of lives and properties is a shared responsibility. We must continue to work together as government, security agencies and citizens to build a peaceful and secure Kaduna State,” he concluded.

The PCRC Kaduna State Command, he concluded, reaffirms its commitment to promoting community engagement, peace-building, and strengthening of police-civilians cooperation for the betterment of all.
